Kate Mills is a Chicago-based Interior designer and owner of KMM Design.
Following her lifelong passion, Kate graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a Certificate in Textile Science.
Kate began her career working for a nationally awarded Interior design firm, specializing in a mix of commercial and development projects. She has worked with the top builders across the country, assisting with the design and development of model homes in new multi-family housing communities. Kate has managed project development for high-end country clubs along Chicago’s North Shore and a senior living campus in Pennsylvania.
Additionally, Kate has worked for two highly respected manufacturers, including the largest global flooring producer and an exclusive textile studio. During her tenures, Kate assisted other Interior designers with selecting appropriate products for specific applications. As a technical expert, she helped guide industry professionals on best practices.
Kate has spent her career devising ways to make good design available to everyone. She looks for practical and sustainable solutions that are affordable and functional for each individual client while producing environments that are distinctive and long-lasting. She looks past mainstream trends, and instead, designs her client’s unique spaces to fit their lifestyle and taste, with an eclectic mix, standing the test of time.
Kate serves as a volunteer designer for Designs 4 Dignity, a non-profit organization based in Chicago. D4D transforms other non-profit environments through pro bono design services and in-kind donations – empowering lives through design. She is a certified LEED Green Associate, and an active member of the Chicago chapter of USGBC.
